Debate St. Paul`s School

The debate competition was held on May 8th, 2023 and May 11th, 2023 respectively at the St. Paul`s School auditorium. The event was organized by the school's administration and featured four teams from four different houses: Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green. Each team consisted of four members, with one member designated as the team leader.

The competition began with the first round of debates, and each team was given a topic to debate. The teams had to argue their points in front of a panel of judges who evaluated their arguments based on their coherence, persuasiveness, and relevance to the topic.

As the competition progressed, the teams displayed their excellent debating skills, presenting well-researched and persuasive arguments. However, after several rounds of debates, the finals were held between the Yellow and Red teams.

In the final round, the Yellow team argued for the motion, "Money can't buy happiness?".The Red team argued against the motion, and the judges evaluated their arguments based on their confidence, fluency, and relevance to the topic. The Yellow team presented convincing arguments that money cannot buy happiness an happiness is an emotion that comes from within and cannot be bought with material wealth. The audience listened with awe.

After a thorough evaluation of the arguments, the judges declared the Yellow team as the winner of the debate competition with a neck-and-neck score of 253 to Red team`s 252 with a little yet large difference of 1 point. The Yellow team was congratulated for their well-researched and persuasive arguments, which were supported by evidence and delivered with confidence. The Red team was also commended for their excellent debating skills and well-presented arguments.

In conclusion, the debate competition was a great success, with all the teams displaying their excellent debating skills. The Yellow team emerged as the winner of the competition, showcasing their well-researched and persuasive arguments. The competition was a great opportunity for the students to engage in thoughtful discussion and learn more about important issues. The students and faculty members in attendance were impressed with the quality of the debate and appreciated the opportunity to engage in intellectual discourse.
